Greece is set to welcome one of the world’s most prestigious luxury hotel brands, as Rosewood Hotels & Resorts prepares to make its Greek debut with the opening of Rosewood Blue Palace in Elounda, Crete, in 2027. The iconic Blue Palace, one of the island’s established luxury resorts, will reopen as part of the international Rosewood portfolio following an extensive transformation.
Owned by Greek hospitality group PHĀEA, the property is being reimagined as a luxury seaside retreat, combining contemporary design with Cretan heritage and the brand’s distinctive approach to personalised hospitality. Located between the traditional fishing village of Plaka and the port of Elounda, the resort overlooks the Gulf of Mirabello and the historic island of Spinalonga.
The redesigned property will feature 154 rooms and suites, 85 of which will include private swimming pools. The interiors will be designed by acclaimed Greek studio K-Studio, drawing inspiration from Cretan traditions and the island’s architectural identity. Meanwhile, Greek-born, London-based designer Afroditi Krassa has been appointed to create the spaces for the resort’s six restaurants and bars.
Dining will play an important role in the guest experience, with a selection of speciality restaurants, a beach club and an all-day dining venue. The culinary offering will highlight fresh ingredients sourced from local producers, alongside produce from the property’s own organic garden.
Wellness will also take centre stage through Asaya, Rosewood’s holistic wellbeing concept. Facilities will include a fitness centre, movement studio, yoga pavilion and dedicated areas for hydrotherapy treatments. Three outdoor swimming pools overlooking the Mediterranean will further complement the resort’s leisure offering.
The opening represents a significant milestone for Rosewood, introducing the international luxury hospitality brand to Greece for the first time. It also marks a new chapter for PHĀEA, as the Greek hotel group continues to strengthen its presence in the high-end hospitality market.
With its combination of Cretan character, refined design and internationally recognised hospitality, Rosewood Blue Palace is set to become one of Crete’s most anticipated hotel openings of 2027.
