ÉRA Hotel Heraklion, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, the first hotel of the collection in Heraklion, officially opened its doors on 30 October 2026. Located in Daskalogianni Square, the hotel features 55 rooms and a rooftop offering a restaurant, bar and swimming pool. The design of its fully renovated interiors draws inspiration from Cretan heritage, incorporating references to local folk art, traditional craftsmanship and the stories of the island.
The opening of ÉRA marks the next chapter in Hilton’s collaboration with Green Properties – Melakis S.A., following the launch of Hilton Garden Inn Chania City. The hotel joins Tapestry Collection by Hilton, a portfolio of distinctive hotels, each reflecting the character, culture and spirit of its destination.
Thanks to its central location, ÉRA offers an ideal starting point for exploring Heraklion on foot. The 1866 Street Market, Lions Square and the Heraklion Archaeological Museum are all within easy walking distance, while a stroll towards the waterfront leads to the Venetian Harbour and the historic Koules Fortress.
Cretan Heritage Through a Contemporary Lens
The hotel’s interior design was created by Konstantinos Manousakis & Associates, drawing inspiration from Crete’s folk traditions and the history of Heraklion.

Oak wood, marble and stone are the defining materials throughout the interiors, while the stone finishes evoke the traditional construction techniques of Cretan dry-stone walls. Selected wooden surfaces feature patterns inspired by traditional Cretan textiles, reproduced through digital engraving. Transferred from fabric to wood, these intricate designs take on new depth and texture.
Pebble details introduce references to the sea, the voyages of the Minoans and the historic trade of pottery and other goods across the Mediterranean. Meanwhile, the curved furniture and bold patterns on the rugs and carpets recall the distinctive aesthetics of the 1960s.
A First Look Inside ÉRA
The lobby bar welcomes guests into a warm and inviting setting, characterised by tall columns and beams clad in oak wood.

One of its highlights is a canvas artwork by visual artist Giannis Alexandrakis, which offers a contemporary interpretation of a detail from a traditional Cretan costume. The connection to local folk art is further expressed through a striking wall installation of clay jugs. Designed and crafted exclusively for ÉRA, the pieces were created at a traditional pottery workshop just outside Heraklion.
A Stay Inspired by Cretan Culture
The hotel’s rooms combine warm colour palettes, curved lines and contemporary comforts, creating a peaceful setting for relaxation in the heart of the city.

Adding to their distinctive character are illustrations created especially for ÉRA, inspired by the myths and legends of Crete. Figures such as Ariadne, the Minotaur, Daedalus and Icarus bring the island’s rich mythology and history into the guest rooms.
Rooftop Views Take Centre Stage
The hotel’s top floor has been designed around panoramic views of Heraklion and the surrounding landscape. From here, guests can admire the sea and the island of Dia, the hills of Rodia and Mount Juktas. Considered sacred by the ancient Minoans, the mountain is associated with the legend of Zeus’s tomb. Its distinctive silhouette is said to resemble a human face, which mythology attributes to the god himself.
The rooftop is also home to Rodopou & Beyond, where guests can discover a creative Greek cuisine menu curated by Chef Dimitris Georgiadis.
Breakfast is served overlooking the city, while the restaurant provides a welcoming setting for a leisurely lunch or dinner. The bar completes the experience with coffee and cocktails throughout the day.
An outdoor swimming pool with an elevated deck offers an additional space to unwind and enjoy the rooftop surroundings.
A gym and meeting room round out the hotel’s facilities, catering to both leisure and business travellers visiting Heraklion.
