One of Zagori’s best-known luxury mountain retreats is entering a new chapter. Aristi Mountain Resort & Villas, located in the village of Aristi in Western Zagori, has been acquired by Greek real estate investment and development company Hellenic Properties.
The new owner plans to gradually upgrade and expand the property, while retaining its year-round operation and its strong ties to the surrounding region. The financial terms of the acquisition and the identity of the previous owner have not been disclosed.
Set against the mountain landscape of the Astraka range and the Vikos Gorge, the resort is made up of eight independent stone buildings with 26 rooms, suites and villas. Its facilities include the Salvia restaurant, indoor heated and outdoor pools, a spa, hammam, jacuzzi and sauna, alongside Atop, a 135-square-metre space used for events and exhibitions.
The property has built a reputation around its connection with nature and the local community. It belongs to the international Beyond Green network and has received the World Travel Awards’ “World’s Leading Eco-Lodge” title six times. In 2026, it was also awarded two MICHELIN Keys.
Under Hellenic Properties’ ownership, particular attention will be given to the people and businesses of the area. The company says it intends to retain and further develop the resort’s local workforce, prioritise suppliers from Epirus and continue using produce from Aristi Farm, the hotel’s greenhouse and organic garden that supplies the Salvia restaurant.
The investment comes as Zagori continues to attract attention as a year-round destination, with its cultural landscape recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. For Aristi Mountain Resort, the next phase will focus on expanding what already exists rather than changing its identity — strengthening its facilities and guest experience while keeping its relationship with Zagori at the centre
