Greece is set to benefit from Delta Air Lines’ expanded European network for 2027, with the airline adding new connections and extending seasonal services across its transatlantic schedule.
For the Greek market, the key development is the introduction of a new Detroit–Athens service, which will operate three times a week from June 8 through October 28, 2027. The route will provide a new direct link between Athens and Delta’s Detroit hub, while also creating additional connectivity for passengers travelling to Greece from more than 40 destinations across the United States.
The new service comes as Delta continues to strengthen its presence in the Greek market. Athens is already served by the airline from several major U.S. gateways, and the addition of Detroit gives travellers another option for reaching the Greek capital during the summer season.
The airline will operate the new route with an Airbus A330-200, offering Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort and Delta Main cabins.
Beyond the new Detroit connection, Delta’s wider European expansion could also support Greece’s position within the airline’s transatlantic network. The carrier is extending a number of seasonal services into the spring and autumn, giving travellers more opportunities to visit Europe outside the traditional peak summer period.
For Greece, the continued expansion of U.S.–Europe air connectivity is particularly relevant as airlines build their 2027 schedules. Additional capacity and new U.S. gateways can make Athens more accessible to travellers across the American market, while strengthening the capital’s role as an entry point for trips around Greece.
With the new Detroit service scheduled for summer 2027, Delta is adding another link between Greece and the United States at a time when airlines are increasingly extending their transatlantic networks beyond the busiest traditional routes.
