Greece is set to strengthen its international air connectivity, with three significant developments from Delta Air Lines, airHaifa and SKY express. Athens will further enhance its connectivity with the US during the summer of 2027, while Thessaloniki will gain a new direct route to Haifa for the upcoming winter season, and SKY express will launch a daily service to Cairo.

The most significant change comes from Delta Air Lines, which is further increasing frequencies between Atlanta and Athens for the summer 2027 season.

From June 6, 2027, the Atlanta–Athens route will increase from 10 to 12 flights per week, representing a 20% increase in frequency. The flights will be operated by Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, according to the latest update to the US airline’s schedule.

The move further strengthens Athens’ direct connection with one of Delta’s major US hubs and expands connectivity to a large number of destinations across the United States via Atlanta. It also sends a strong signal for the Greek market ahead of the 2027 summer season.

New Direct Haifa–Thessaloniki Route

Meanwhile, the moves by airHaifa and SKY express will expand the options for direct travel across the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.

In particular, Thessaloniki will gain a new direct connection from the start of the 2026/27 winter schedule. Israeli airline airHaifa is planning to launch the Haifa–Thessaloniki route on October 25, 2026, with two weekly flights operated by ATR 72 aircraft. Flights are scheduled to operate on Thursdays and Sundays.

According to the current schedule, flight E2761 will depart Haifa at 07:30 and arrive in Thessaloniki at 10:25, while return flight E2762 will depart from Thessaloniki’s “Makedonia” Airport at 11:30, arriving in Haifa at 14:30.

SKY express: Daily Athens–Cairo Service from December

At the same time, Greek airline SKY express is opening another international route, this time to North Africa.

From December 2, 2026, the airline is planning to operate a daily Athens–Cairo service, using an Airbus A320neo aircraft.
