From 30 September to 11 October 2026, Athens will once again become a meeting point for international cinema as the 32nd Athens International Film Festival – Νύχτες Πρεμιέρας brings twelve days of screenings, premieres and special events to the Greek capital.

A highlight of Athens’ autumn cultural calendar, the festival presents a diverse selection of international and Greek films, alongside competitions celebrating emerging filmmakers and independent cinema. Among the highlights of this year’s edition is a special tribute to acclaimed South Korean director Lee Chang-dong, featuring a selection of his celebrated films as well as the Greek premiere of his latest work, Possible Love.

The festival also continues its long-standing support for Greek cinema through its Greek Short Stories competition, showcasing new Greek short films and introducing emerging Greek filmmakers to audiences in Athens and beyond.

Screenings and events take place at cinemas and cultural venues across the city. One confirmed highlight is a screening of Lana Daher’s Do You Love Me at the Onassis Stegi Main Stage on 2 October, followed by a Q&A with the director.

For travellers visiting Athens in early autumn, Νύχτες Πρεμιέρας offers a chance to experience the city’s contemporary cultural scene alongside its ancient landmarks and historic neighbourhoods. It is an especially appealing addition to an autumn itinerary for anyone with an interest in film, arts and the creative side of Athens.

The 32nd Athens International Film Festival – Νύχτες Πρεμιέρας takes place from 30 September to 11 October 2026. The full programme will be presented on 22 September.
