Summer in Athens 2026: 63 Free Events Throughout the City

31 days full of culture, 50 spots throughout the city, and 63 free events for everyone!

From June 20 to July 20, “Summer in Athens 2026” transforms the city into one large open stage for art and entertainment. With more than 60 free events in parks, squares, pedestrian streets, and public spaces, the festival travels across all neighborhoods and the seven Municipal Communities of Athens.

The program, curated by OPANDA (Organization of Culture, Sports and Youth of the City of Athens), includes concerts, theatrical performances, dance, stand-up comedy, performances, and activities for children, inviting residents and visitors to experience a summer full of creativity, fun, and culture.

Saturday, June 20, 2026

European Music Day 📍 National Garden 19:00 | Asteri Spot Carl Maria von Weber 240 years since the birth and 200 years since the death of the German composer. The Athens Symphony Orchestra presents a tribute to the pioneer of Romanticism and German opera, Carl Maria von Weber, featuring his most famous overtures. In the first part, renowned soloists Antonis Mandylas (violin) and Aristides-Savvas Peristeris (viola) will perform Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante in E-flat major. Conductor: Andreas Tselikas

17:00 | Park for Children and Culture (former KAPAPS) Lampsa & Trifyllias, Ampelokipi Community Festival On the occasion of World Refugee Day, young and old alike participate in a celebration full of picnics, sports activities, workshops, exhibitions, and music at the grounds of the Infant-Toddler Athens and the Children’s-Teenager Library of Athens. Held in the context of the Refugee Week Greece festival.

21:00 | Zappeion Garden Amphitheater Swinging with the Big Band The Athens Big Band presents a program of timeless jazz hits, from the golden age of big orchestras to the present day. Held in the context of the Olympia Festival. Conductor: Sami Amiris

Klidonas Festival 20:00 | Park for Children and Culture (former KAPAPS) Lampsa & Trifyllias, Ampelokipi Revival of the traditional Klidonas custom on the eve of the feast of St. John the Baptist. Featuring traditional music bands with bagpipes, clarinets, and other folk instruments, as well as the dance groups of the Cultural Association of Ano Ampelokipi.

20:30 | Amerikis Square Karagiozis in the Neighborhoods of Athens Klidonas Festival by the EPOIZO Association. The Shadow Theater troupe of Sotiris Charidimos, featuring puppeteer Konstantinos Koutsoumplis, presents a special show for the whole family. Artistic Direction: Sotiris Charidimos

21:00 | Merkouri Square, Ano Petralona LIOCORNO Quartet Live The band invites the public to a unique sonic journey where atmosphere meets intensity, blending original compositions with influences from Greek traditional music, jazz, rock, and pop.
