Greece is increasingly becoming a destination for more than the traditional July and August holiday, and Jet2’s latest Summer 2027 expansion is another sign of that shift.
The airline is extending and adding services to several Greek destinations, giving British travellers more opportunities to visit the country during spring and autumn. The programme includes additional seasonal connectivity to Crete, Kalamata, Halkidiki and Kefalonia, with some services starting earlier in the year or continuing into late October.
For Greece, the significance goes beyond additional flights. It reflects growing interest in experiencing the country outside the peak summer months.
Discovering Greece in the shoulder season
April, May, September and October can offer a very different Greek experience. With milder temperatures and fewer visitors, these months are particularly appealing for travellers interested in exploring beyond the beach.
In Crete, for example, the longer season creates more opportunities to combine coastal escapes with archaeological sites, mountain villages, hiking routes and local gastronomy.
Meanwhile, Kalamata provides an ideal base for discovering the Peloponnese, from the beaches and olive groves of Messinia to historic towns and ancient sites.
Further north, an extended season in Halkidiki offers travellers the chance to enjoy its beaches, forests and traditional villages at a slower pace. Kefalonia, too, will remain accessible later into October, making an autumn island escape increasingly possible.
Jet2 has also been expanding its wider Greek network, with Thassos joining its Summer 2027 programme and new services planned for destinations including Preveza and Santorini.
Together, these developments highlight how Greece’s tourism season continues to evolve.
With more flights available across the shoulder season, Greece is becoming an easier choice for travellers who prefer to avoid the peak summer crowds. And with so much to see beyond the beaches, spring and autumn can be an especially rewarding time to explore the country.
