Moxy Athens City, the contemporary lifestyle hotel located near Omonia Square, has been acquired by MHV Mediterranean Hospitality Venture, marking the group’s entry into the Athens hotel market. The transaction adds another centrally located property to MHV’s growing hospitality portfolio and highlights continued investment activity in the Greek capital.
The hotel, which operates under Marriott International’s Moxy Hotels brand, features 200 rooms and a Penthouse Suite. Since opening in 2022, it has established a distinctive presence in central Athens, combining modern design, social spaces and a vibrant atmosphere aimed at both leisure and business travellers.
A Lifestyle Hotel in Central Athens
Located in the heart of the city, Moxy Athens City offers easy access to Athens’ main attractions, shopping districts and public transport links. Its location near Omonia Square places guests within convenient reach of the historic centre and the city’s expanding urban hospitality scene.
The property stands out for its contemporary approach to hotel design. Rather than following a traditional reception and lounge concept, Moxy Athens City embraces an informal, social environment, with its signature bar serving as a central gathering point.
The hotel’s rooftop Penthouse Suite, situated on the ninth floor, also offers indoor and outdoor event spaces with views of the Acropolis and Lycabettus Hill, making it suitable for private gatherings and professional occasions.
MHV Expands Its Greek Hospitality Portfolio
The acquisition represents MHV’s first investment in Athens. The hospitality group already has a presence in Greece through properties including Nikki Beach Resort & Spa in Porto Heli and Porto Paros Resort in Paros, alongside its wider interests in hospitality and real estate.
Adding Moxy Athens City introduces an urban hotel to a portfolio that includes established resort destinations. It also gives the group a foothold in Athens, a market that continues to attract interest from international hotel operators and investors.
Although the financial details of the transaction have not been publicly disclosed, the change of ownership reflects the ongoing evolution of Athens’ hospitality landscape, where lifestyle hotels and centrally located properties remain important parts of the city’s accommodation offering.
