Food lovers have another reason to head to Athens this October, as the Gastronomos Festival returns to Pireos 260 for its second edition. Taking place on 10 and 11 October 2026, the two-day celebration brings together Greek food, wine, local producers, chefs, traditional crafts and the stories behind some of the country’s most distinctive flavours.
Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, this year’s festival promises an even bigger programme. The courtyard of Pireos 260 will become a lively food village, with 20 restaurants, tavernas and cafés from different parts of Greece cooking and serving dishes inspired by their local traditions. Outdoor kitchens will be running throughout the day, creating an opportunity to discover flavours from across the country in one place.
The programme goes far beyond eating. At the festival’s main Live Cooking stage, well-known Greek chefs will lead cooking classes and share recipes inspired by the country’s culinary heritage. Visitors can also take part in tastings and sessions dedicated to Greek wine, olive oil, cheese and honey, while producers, cooks, scientists and craftspeople share their knowledge and experiences.
Saturday evening will bring a distinctly Greek atmosphere, with a large traditional panigiri featuring food, music and dishes associated with celebrations around the country. On Sunday, the spotlight turns to contemporary Greek cuisine with the Table of Chefs, where more than 20 chefs from restaurants across Athens and beyond will prepare signature small plates for visitors.
Families are also catered for, with activities designed especially for children. Young visitors will have the chance to bake, plant, explore beekeeping and create their own kitchen-related crafts, turning the festival into an experience that is both entertaining and educational.
The weekend will culminate in the 19th Gastronomos Quality Awards, celebrating producers, craftspeople and other people who help preserve valuable knowledge and traditions while contributing to contemporary Greek food culture.
Tickets start at €10 for one day and €17 for both days, with food, wine, beer, soft drinks and water included throughout the day.
