For nine days, Piraeus comes alive with flavours, music, culture and aromas from Greece and around the world as the 5th Piraeus Taste Festival – Seafood & More returns from 19 to 27 September, transforming different parts of the city into the setting for a vibrant celebration of gastronomy.
Celebrating Piraeus’ deep connection with the sea and its rich culinary heritage, the festival invites locals and visitors to discover a different side of the city through live cooking shows, traditional celebrations, international flavours, film screenings and activities for the whole family.
At the Historic Central Market of Piraeus, the “Market Table” will be set beneath the new bioclimatic canopy, while in Mikrolimano, gastronomy meets the sea in a special live cooking show featuring acclaimed chef Alexandros Tsiotinis.
At Korai Square, “Cinema on a Plate” brings together food and film, while “Flavours of the World” introduces Piraeus to culinary traditions from Greece, the USA, China, Vietnam, Panama and Armenia, accompanied by music and dance.
Greek tradition also takes centre stage. At Peiraiki, the popular “Sparos Festival” returns with seafood meze and an island-style celebration by the sea, while in Neo Faliro, the “Tsikoudia Festival” brings together authentic Cretan flavours, traditional products and live music.
Younger visitors are also invited to join the fun, with the Kids Cooking Party and the children’s edition of “Cinema on a Plate”, combining creative play, cooking and entertainment.
The culinary journey continues at Pasalimani, where the Piraeus Taste Fair will take place from 25 September to 4 October. The large-scale exhibition will celebrate Greek products, bringing together traditional delicacies, delicatessen selections, gourmet offerings and Greek superfoods from different regions across the country.
If you are in Athens in late September, the Piraeus Taste Festival is a wonderful opportunity to experience Piraeus from a different perspective — through its flavours, traditions and its enduring connection with the sea.
