Alaska Airlines has announced the launch of nonstop seasonal flights between Seattle and Athens, beginning May 12, 2027. The new route marks the airline’s first-ever service to Athens and the first nonstop connection between the Greek capital and the Pacific Northwest.
The new service will operate three times a week through October 2027, creating a direct link between Seattle and Greece during the busy summer travel season.
For travellers in Seattle and across the wider Pacific Northwest, the new route means easier access to Athens without the need for a connecting flight. It will also make Greece more accessible to travellers from Alaska Airlines’ wider U.S. network, with passengers able to connect through Seattle from other destinations across the West Coast, Alaska and Hawaiʻi.
The route will be operated with Alaska Airlines’ Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, offering Business Class Suites with lie-flat seats alongside premium cabin options.
According to Alaska Airlines’ published schedule, flights from Seattle to Athens will depart at 4:30 p.m., arriving in Athens at 2:20 p.m. the following day. The return flight will depart Athens at 4:20 p.m., arriving in Seattle at 6:55 p.m.
The announcement is also significant for Athens, strengthening the Greek capital’s rapidly expanding air connectivity with the United States. Beyond tourism, the new direct link is expected to support business, investment and trade between Greece and the U.S. West Coast.
The Seattle–Athens route will join Alaska Airlines’ growing international network from Seattle, which includes destinations such as London, Rome, Tokyo and Seoul.
For anyone dreaming of a Greek summer in 2027, getting from Seattle to Athens is about to become a whole lot easier.
